Dark Angels are genetically modified superhuman soldiers, the elite warriors of the Imperium of Man that defend the galaxy against the forces of Chaos and the Xenos scum that wishes to destroy us. Though a powerful chapter tirelessly defending the Worlds in the Imperium to the end and seen by others as some of the greatest of warriors, they hide an ancient secret, a bane against their history that they will conceal at any cost. The Dark Angels were the first Legion of the twenty original Space Marine Legions, their Primarch being Lion El'Jonson. After remaining loyal to the Emperor during the Horus Heresy, this legion was later re-organized and divided into several Chapters during the Second Founding. One of these chapters would keep the original legion's name and assets, though all of the Dark Angels descendants continue to work together to hunt The Fallen as the Unforgiven.
The most notable warriors of the Dark Angels are the first and second companies, the Deathwing and Ravenwing. The Deathwing are elite terminators who specialise in deep striking straight into the heart of battle. The Ravenwing is a versatile and tactically flexible fast-attack force specialising in a quick and sudden assault, the true role of the Ravenwing is to hunt members of The Fallen. This secret is only known to high-ranking Black Knights and members of the Inner Circle. Both of these fearless companies are not a part of the standard Codex Astartes structure system, although the remaining companies of the chapter do strictly adhere to the Codex.
